Sutherland married Camelia Kath in 1987, and their daughter Sarah was born in February 1988. Kiefer and Camelia separated in 1990, and Sarah followed in her father’s footsteps, starring as Catherine Meyer in 43 episodes of HBO’s award-winning comedy series “Veep.” Sutherland was engaged to “Flatliners” co-star Julia Roberts in 1991, but the engagement was called off three days before the wedding. Kiefer’s first film appearance was in 1983’s “Max Dugan Returns,” in which he co-starred with his father. He next starred in “The Bay Boy,” which earned him critical acclaim & a Genie Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Sutherland’s debut picture in the United States was “Stand by Me,” which was based on a Stephen King story, and he played a vampire in “The Lost Boys” the following year.
