Bush was born as an only child in Pasadena, California, on July 8, 1982. Charles, her father, is an advertising and beauty photographer, and her mother has a photographic studio. She went to Westridge School for Girls and was especially interested in volleyball. However, due to school standards, she was also required to perform in a play. Her involvement in the theater arts program sparked an interest in acting, which she followed after graduating in 2000.
