Amit Shah Biography: Amit Bhai Anil Chandra Shah, who is the former President of the Bharatiya Janata Party and India home minister, was born on October 22, 1964, to a Gujarati couple, Mrs. Kusum Ben and Mr. Anil Chandra Shah, who are living in Mumbai. The grandfather of Shah was a well-known merchant in Mansa, which is a small princely state within the Baroda state of Gaikwad.
Until he turned 16, Shah used to live in his ancestral village of Mansa in Gujarat, where he received his primary education. His early schooling followed the Indian value tradition and was under the guidance of notable scholars of the Gaikwad state. Throughout his life, Amit Shah remained devoted to studying Indian philosophy and texts.
After the completion of his primary education, the family of Amit Shah relocated to Ahmedabad. His mother, who is an ardent Gandhian, deeply influenced his life, inspiring him to wear khadi. During his youth years, Shah involved himself in the biography of a number of patriots who were affected by their love for the nation. He was also very much inspired by the writings of KM Munshi.
At the age of 13, during the general elections of 1977, in the middle of an emergency period, Shah actively engaged in the election campaign to support Maniben Patel, who is the daughter of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, by putting up campaign material for her candidacy.
Shah also has a well-established business empire consisting of PVC pipelines. He started taking an interest in politics at the age of 16 in the year 1980, when he joined as the young Swayamsevak of the Sangh. His time in the RSS led him to meet Modi in 1982. He was also associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, where he served as the joint secretary of the Gujarat unit in 1982. His relationship with the BJP began in 1984, when he served as a polling agent. Subsequently, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha in 1987.
Due to his hardworking nature, he was also associated with the Deendayal Research Institute during the 1980s, where he served as treasurer for 8 years. His association with the institute allowed him to closely observe the working style of the social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh.
In the year 1981, Amit Shah became the secretary of the BJP of the Ahmedabad unit and actively participated in movements like the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and the Ekta Yatra. He managed the election very efficiently for leaders like LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
During the 1990s, the influence of Shah in Gujarat politics grew as he played a number of roles within the BJP, including chairperson of the Gujarat Pradesh Finance Corporation in 1995, where he significantly improved its financial standing.
