Corruption Charges and Arrest
In June 2022, a complaint was filed against Sisodia with the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government over the construction of schools and classrooms. In July 2022, anti-corruption authority Delhi Lokayukta was also investigating.
On July 8, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena submitted a report to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, alleging procedural lapses in the implementation of the policy and claiming that post-tender benefits were given to licensees. CBI has started investigating the case. In response, Arvind Kejriwal accused the central government of misusing the CBI to “derail Delhi’s education and health revolution”.On 22 August, Sisodia said he had a recording (the proof of which was never made available in the public domain) of the BJP offering to withdraw the cases against him, in return for Sisodia splitting the AAP.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on 26 February 2023 in connection with the excise scam. The FIR said that Sisodia, a former Delhi excise official, had played a key role in recommending and deciding the excise policy for the year 2021-22 without the approval of the competent authority.Were performing.
