Shannen Doherty began performing when she was a child. In 1982, she appeared as a guest on Voyagers! and Father Murphy conceived and produced by Michael Landon. The following year, she was cast in the recurring role of Jenny Wilder on Little House on the Prairie, which Landon starred in & produced. She appeared in all but four episodes of Little House on the Prairie’s last season. She also provided voice-over work for the animated film The Secret of NIMH in 1982. In 1985, she co-starred in the teen comedy Girls Want to Have Fun as Maggie Malone, with Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker. On the show Our House, which aired from 1986 to 1988, Doherty played Kris Witherspoon, the oldest sibling. For this portrayal, she was nominated for multiple Young Artist Awards. She was nominated for Best Young Artist: Guest in a Series at the 1984 Youth in Film Awards for her work on Magnum P.I. and an early episode of Airwolf.
